Big Rig Fatally Strikes Motorcyclist at Merle Haggard and Airport Drives
OILDALE, CA (July 25, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident at Merle Haggard Drive and Airport Drive in Oildale early Friday morning.
The accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on July 23. According to the California Highway Patrol, a big rig was traveling the wrong way on Merle Haggard Drive when it struck the motorcyclist. The impact caused the big rig to go over the center median and into multiple trees.
The motorcyclist, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.
CHP officials said the driver of the big rig remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. It was unknown if he sustained injuries from the crash.
The CHP is still trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in this fatality.
