Rear-End Accident on 5 Freeway in Solana Beach Kills Motorcycle Rider

 
SOLANA BEACH, CA (November 11, 2021) – A motorcyclist died in a rear-end accident on 5 Freeway in Solana Beach Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on November 10, just north of Via De La Valle. According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was heading south in the fast lane when his Kawasaki motorcycle struck the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado 2500.
 
The impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and be thrown onto the freeway. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 24-year-old Nevada City resident.
 
Crews closed southbound lanes of the freeway until around 11:00 a.m. while they cleared the wreckage.
 
Alcohol or drugs was not a factor in the crash, authorities said. Further investigation is underway.
