Rider Dies after Struck Head-On by Sedan on Highway 98 in Ocotillo

 
OCOTILLO, CA (January 19, 2022) – A motorcyclist died in a head-on accident on Highway 98 in Ocotillo on Sunday evening.
 
The accident happened a little after 8:30 p.m. on January 16 just east of Imperial Highway. According to the CHP, a black Honda Civic was traveling east on the highway. For unknown reasons, it drove into the path of a blue Yamaha motorcycle that was heading west and struck it head-on.
 
As a result, the motorcyclist suffered blunt force trauma injuries and died at the scene, according to the Imperial County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver of the Honda was only identified as a 29-year-old Calexico resident. He was not arrested.
 
CHP officials did not rule out drugs or alcohol as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
