Deadly Head-On Accident on Davis Road in Salinas Involves Motorcycle and Van

 
SALINAS, CA (August 22, 2021) – A motorcyclist died in a head-on accident at Davis Road and Ambrose Drive in Salinas late Friday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on August 20. According to the CHP, the motorcyclist was passing on the right shoulder and struck an Econoline van head-on as it was making a left turn onto Ambrose from southbound Davis.
 
The motorcyclist suffered major injuries from the impact and died at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
After the crash, officers diverted traffic away from Davis and Ambrose as of 6:00 p.m. Northbound Davis traffic was detoured onto Blanco Road while southbound traffic is being diverted to Central Avenue.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
