Male Rider Dies after Broadside Crash with Car on South Broadway in Santa Maria

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (August 2, 2021) – A motorcyclist died in a broadside accident on South Broadway in Santa Maria late Friday evening.
 
The accident happened around 10:50 p.m. on July 30, at the intersection with East McCoy Lane. According to the Santa Maria Police Department, the motorcyclist was riding southbound on Broadway at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a red light.
 
As he drove through the red light, the motorcyclist broadsided a car that was making a turn onto McCoy Lane on a green arrow signal.
 
The motorcyclist died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
 
The car rolled onto its side. The driver, a female juvenile, was uninjured.
 
This fatal crash is still under investigation.
