Motorcyclist Killed in Accident at Newland Street and Heil Avenue [Westminster, CA]

Accident on Newland Street in Westminster Involves Motorcycle and Car

 
WESTMINSTER, CA (May 17, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident at Newland Street and Heil Avenue in Westminster near the border of Huntington Beach.
 
The accident happened around 8:55 p.m. Thursday, May 13. According to Westminster police, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Heil when he collided with a car going northbound on Newland. Police added that one of the vehicles may have run a red light.
 
Responding officers found the motorcycle in the middle of the intersection and the motorcyclist down in the roadway. Huntington Beach paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
 
Whether the occupants of the car were injured was not immediately known.
 
A witness told officers that he saw the motorcyclist do a wheelie, apply the throttle and then come back down just before the crash.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation and police were searching for surveillance video from nearby businesses.
