Traffic Accident near Mission Gate Road in Lompoc Kills Rider

 
LOMPOC, CA (June 23, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident near Mission Gate Road and Purisima Road Tuesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 2:50 p.m. on June 22. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 26-year-old motorcyclist from Lompoc was heading eastbound on Purisima when the driver of a Volkswagen on Mission Gate Road made a left-hand turn onto Purisima.
 
The vehicles collided, ejecting the motorcyclist. The victim died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
 
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 67-year-old Lompoc man, was not injured.
 
CHP says drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
