20-Year-Old Man Dies in Gilroy Accident on Highway 101 near Buena Vista Avenue

 
GILROY, CA (June 30, 2021) – A motorcyclist died in an accident on Highway 101 near Buena Vista Avenue late Monday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on June 28, on the northern edge of Gilroy. According to the CHP, the 20-year-old San Jose man was riding a 2006 Honda CBR600 motorcycle and was heading north. For unknown reasons, he lost control of the bike and went off the roadway onto the east dirt shoulder.
 
The motorcycle then traveled up an embankment and hit the Buena Vista Avenue overcrossing, throwing the rider into the concrete structure, the CHP said.
 
As a result, the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity once family members are notified.
 
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
