Kevin Carter Dies after Colliding with SUV in Winter Gardens

 
WINTER GARDENS, CA (April 26, 2022) – A motorcyclist died in an accident on Winter Gardens Boulevard and Sapota Drive on Sunday afternoon, April 17.
 
Officials with the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 36-year-old Lakeside resident Kevin Carter.
 
The accident happened just before 3:40 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, Carter was hit by a driver making a left turn onto Sapota Drive at the intersection with Winter Gardens Boulevard.
 
Carter was traveling southbound on Winter Gardens when the driver in a 2008 Chevrolet Blazer SUV in the northbound lanes stopped at a stop sign before turning.
 
Paramedics were called to the crash site, but San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies pronounced Carter dead at the scene.
 
Deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department were the first to respond to the crash. However, the investigation since was handed over to California Highway Patrol.
