Motorcyclist Hospitalized after Fiery Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 near Esperanza Road

 
SALINAS, CA (August 23, 2021) — A motorcycle rider suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 on Thursday, August 19.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident involved four vehicles, including a big rig and motorcycle. Crews responded to the scene of the incident on Highway 101 near Esperanza Road.
 
The big rig caught fire while the motorcycle was underneath it. According to the Monterey County Regional Fire Protection District, both riders were off it.
 
CHP said the medics rushed the motorcyclists to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
 
According to CHP, the southbound traffic on Highway 101 was slow.
 
There are no reports yet on how the incident happened. The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
