Man Hurt in Motorcycle Collision on Mission Boulevard in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 28, 2021) — A male motorcyclist sustained injuries in a collision on Mission Boulevard Sunday afternoon in the Pacific Beach neighborhood.
 
According to the police, the accident took place at about 3:05 p.m. The man was operating a motorcycle northbound near 5050 Mission Boulevard. At the same time, a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas was traveling in the 800 block of Opal Street and turning onto Mission.
 
The motorcyclist drove into the turn lane as the Volkswagen merged into that lane to make a U-turn. Subsequently, the rider laid his motorcycle down and then slid into the Volkswagen.
 
The crash left the motorcyclist with serious but non-life-threatening leg injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital for treatment and further evaluation. His name was not disclosed but officials said he is 57 years old.
 
Meanwhile, there was no word on whether the 43-year-old man driving the Volkswagen had any injuries.
 
Police officials said alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the crash. Further investigation is ongoing.
