Motorcycle Rider Suffered Injuries in Car Crash on Highway 74 near Art Smith Trailhead

 
PALM DESERT, CA (January 19, 2023) — A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a car accident on Highway 74 on Tuesday, January 17.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 3 p.m. on westbound Highway 74, near the Art Smith Trailhead.
 
CHP said the motorcyclist possibly rounded a curve at high speed. Then it entered the opposing traffic lane and crashed into a Volkswagen.
 
Riverside County Fire Department crews arrived at the area within 20 minutes. Then they treated and rushed the rider to a regional trauma center for treatment of major injuries. The occupants of the car did not sustain any injuries.
 
Officials closed both sides of the 74 because of the crash. They reopened all closed lanes by 4 p.m.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
