Rider Seriously Injured in Rear-End Accident on 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road in Santa Clarita

 
SANTA CLARITA, CA (August 17, 2021) – A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a rear-end accident on 14 Freeway, Thursday morning.
 
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the incident happened on August 12, at about 6:33 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a motorcycle slammed into the rear of a black sedan near Escondido Canyon Road.
 
A helicopter transported the motorcyclist to a hospital with serious injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the sedan remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Officers issued an hour-long SigAlert for the No. 1 and 2 lanes of the southbound 14 Freeway. All lanes also had to be temporarily closed to make way for the medical helicopter.
 
Avoid motorcycle accidents by practicing defensive riding at all times. Observe the movements of other vehicles around you and make yourself visible. As a driver, always allow extra space between your vehicle and motorcyclists.
