Woman and Son Sustained Injuries after Pedestrian Crash on Proctor Road near Redwood Road

 
CASTRO VALLEY, CA (February 8, 2023) — A woman and her son suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on Proctor Road on Monday, February 6.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck the 40-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son at around 7:50 a.m. on Proctor Road, west of Redwood Road.
 
The incident happened as the mother and son walked to Proctor Elementary School.
 
CHP said that the driver, a 38-year-old Castro Valley resident, drove an Infinity QX60 eastbound on Proctor Road. Then she turned from the roadway and hit the pedestrians who were on the sidewalk.
 
According to the CHP, paramedics rushed the mother of the child to the hospital, with severe injuries. Additionally, the child sustained a minor injury and is with family.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Officials said they do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed as a factor in the crash.
 
The investigation is still underway.
