Redding Woman Monica Long Suffers Major Injuries after Snowmobile Crash in Plumas County

 
LA PORTE, CA (March 8, 2021) – Monica Long was seriously injured in a snowmobile accident Saturday, March 6.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 1:35 p.m. in front of the La Porte General Store near Quincy La Porte Road.
 
CHP officials said 43-year-old Shawn Richins of Chino was driving the snowmobile westbound when he lost control. He then accelerated to approximately 30 mph and sideswiped the railing in front of the store.
 
The impact ejected Richins and his passenger 36-year-old Redding resident Long. Both landed on the store’s cement porch.
 
Emergency personnel airlifted Long to Enloe Medical Center in Chino with a wrist fracture, a knee fracture and abdominal pain.
 
Meanwhile, Richins had a swollen left knee and had received a bump on his head, but declined transportation.
 
The CHP is still investigating the accident.
