Coroner Identifies Richard Lopez and Miguel Martinez in Big Rig Crash in Verdugo Hills

 
VERDUGO HILLS, CA (May 27, 2022) – Two men died in a big rig accident on 210 Freeway in Verdugo Hills on Wednesday morning.
 
The coroner’s office identified them as 57-year-old Miguel Martinez and 41-year-old Richard Lopez, both residents of Covina.
 
The accident happened around 12:08 a.m. on May 25 at La Tuna Canyon Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a car was traveling westbound on the freeway when it crashed into the big rig for unknown reasons.
 
When officers arrived, crews pulled the crumpled vehicle from beneath the truck, which wound up on the right shoulder of the freeway.
 
The men were found amid the wreckage under the truck. Both Martinez and Lopez died at the scene.
 
The crash closed three lanes of the freeway. At this time, the cause of the crash is under investigation.
