Miguel Figueroa Dead in Pearblossom Head-On Crash on Highway 138
PEARBLOSSOM, CA (August 12, 2021) — One person died in a head-on accident on Highway 138 at Longview Road Monday, August 9.
19-year-old Miguel Figueroa of Palmdale died in the crash, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 4:56 a.m. Figueroa drove a 2007 Chrysler Sebring westbound on Highway 138 when he veered in a southwesterly direction. However, it was directly into the path of a 2003 Saturn Ion traveling eastbound on Highway 138. As a result, a broadside collision occurred.
Figueroa sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The Saturn’s driver, 45-yar-old Daniel Meneses of Lancaster, sustained major injuries. Soon after, officials transported him to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.
The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, according to police.
