Michelle Yaccuzio Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on 91 Freeway near Central Avenue off-ramp

 
COMPTON, CA (August 11, 2022) — A homeless woman identified as 40-year-old Michelle Yaccuzio died in a pedestrian crash on Monday, August 8.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, a driver called them at around 12:15 p.m. on Monday. The driver said they hit a person while moving in the westbound lanes of the freeway near the Central Avenue off-ramp.
 
First responders rushed to the area and declared Yaccuzio dead at the scene.
 
Investigators were unsure whether Yaccuzio walked on the freeway or if she went out of a vehicle.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
 
As a result of the incident, CHP issued a SigAlert for all westbound lanes for about an hour. They reopened all lanes on the freeway at around 4:15 a.m.
