Ventura Man Dies after Fiery Crash on 101 Freeway, DUI Driver Michael Snee Arrested
SHERMAN OAKS, CA (February 8, 2021) – Police arrested Michael Snee on suspicion of DUI after a fatal fiery crash early Monday morning in Sherman Oaks.
The crash happened around 1:50 a.m. on eastbound 101 Freeway at Van Nuys Boulevard.
CHP officials said a box truck was stopped on an eastbound lane and was blocking traffic. Minutes later, an SUV had slammed right into the back of the box truck and immediately caught on fire.
As a result, the SUV’s sole occupant suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities only described him as a 30 to 40-year-old Ventura man.
Snee, a 29-year-old Beverly Hills resident, was the operator of the box truck. He initially told authorities he had a mechanical issue that forced him to stop. However, upon further investigation, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He is being held on a $15,000 bail.
This fatal accident is still under investigation.
We would like to express our deepest condolences and caring thoughts to the friends and family of the victim.
