Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash on Keyes Road at Downie Road
DENAIR, CA (April 25, 2021) – Michael Machado was involved in a fatal two-vehicle accident Thursday morning north of Denair.
The accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on April 22, in the area of Keyes Road and Downie Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 38-year-old Denair resident was driving an 8-wheel tractor. At the same time, a 1998 Ford truck driver was heading westbound on Keyes Road.
Machado pulled out of a property at the south side of the intersection. He took a wide turn and partially drove into the westbound lane. The left side of his tractor hit the left side of the pickup.
The impact sent the pickup out of control into a telephone pole at the northwest side of the intersection.
As a result, the driver of the pickup who was not wearing a seat belt died on the spot. He has not yet been identified.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the factors involved and liability.
