Michael Lowery Hurt after Modesto Motorcycle Accident on Salida Boulevard near Pelandale Avenue
MODESTO, CA (September 2, 2022) — A 23-year-old Modesto motorcyclist identified as Michael Lowery sustained injuries in a crash with a pickup.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ming Hsu, the incident happened at around 7:44 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30. It took place in the northbound lane of Salida Boulevard, north of Pelandale Avenue, in front of the Del Taco.
The incident occurred when 19-year-old Alejandro Contreras, of Modesto, drove a Ford F-150. Then he made a U-Turn at an opening in the concrete median. Then Lowery who rode a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, rear-ended the back of the pickup, Hsu stated.
According to Hsu, Lowery wore a helmet when the incident happened. Medics rushed him to a Modesto hospital with major head injuries. The extent of his condition was not available Wednesday.
Contreras did not sustain any injuries.
There is a “No U-turn” sign in the area where the incident occurred. However, investigators consider all potential factors. This includes the speed of the motorcycle and the traveling distance from the Ford before the collision.
When riding a motorcycle, always wear a helmet and protective gear. Be alert at all times and ride with the flow of traffic. Obey all traffic laws. By doing so, you can prevent dangerous accidents.
