DUI Crash on Churn Creek Road in Redding Sends One Person to Hospital, Michael Laemlein Arrested

 
REDDING, CA (March 8, 2021) – Police arrested 58-year-old Michael Laemlein for DUI after crashing into oncoming traffic Thursday afternoon.
 
According to the Redding Police Department, officers were dispatched at 12:09 p.m., March 4, to the intersection of Churn Creek Road and Presidio Street for a traffic collision.
 
Laemlein, a Redding resident, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette north on Churn Creek Road. For unknown reasons, he drove into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Toyota pickup truck. The Toyota then crashed into a Ford F-150.
 
Police said the corvette finally stopped after shearing a light pole and hitting a Sportsman’s Warehouse sign.
 
One person, 53-year-old Terry Bagley of Redding, complained of pain and was taken to a local hospital.
 
Police arrested Laemmlein for driving under the influence of drugs and booked him into the Shasta County Jail.
 
RPD said the crash is still under investigation and will be further reviewed by the Redding Police Department Traffic Unit.
