Motorcycle Rider Fatally Struck by Two Cars on 5 Freeway in Sacramento, One Driver Arrested for DUI

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (March 13, 2021)Michael Julius Kimbrell died in a DUI accident Saturday evening.
 
The accident happened around 9:36 p.m., March 6, on northbound 5 Freeway at the connector to eastbound Highway 50, CHP officials said.
 
Investigators determined the Kimbell was switching lanes when he was rear-ended by an alleged drunken driver in a BMW. The impact caused him to fall off the bike and into the traffic. A Honda driver then struck him for a second time.
 
Kimbell, a 67-year-old Elverta resident, died at the scene, according to the Sacramento Coroner’s Office.
 
Both drivers remained on scene. Police arrested the driver of the BMW on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and booked him at Sacramento County Main Jail.
 
Kimbrell’s family set up a GoFundMe page for his funeral expenses.
