Michael Fertig Dies in Fatal Vehicle and Motorcycle Crash on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA (April 28, 2021) – Police identified Michael Fertig as the victim who died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 1 on April 24.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of Waddell Creek.
Based on a report, Fertig was on his Harley Davidson on the southbound lane of the highway at the time of the crash. At the same time, Los Gatos resident Lisa Skrzynecki, 59, was traveling on the same road. Due to unknown reasons, the woman failed to observe Fertig driving in front of her. Subsequently, she struck him with her white Subaru.
The impact ejected Fertig from his motorcycle. As a result, the 59-year-old San Francisco resident died at the scene. Skrzynecki suffered only minor injuries.
At this time, the CHP is still investigating the collision. In addition, officials do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the case.
