Maximilian Freels Detained in Chico DUI Crash on Cohasset Road near Azalea Avenue

 
CHICO, CA (August 19, 2021) — Maximilian Freels faces charges in Tuesday’s DUI accident on Cohasset Road near Azalea Avenue.
 
According to the Chico Police Department, the DUI crash happened around 2:47 p.m. For DUI-related reasons, 19-year-old Freels crashed his northbound Dodge Charger into a southbound Mazda3.
 
As a result of the impact, the Mazda was pushed in the opposite direction and dislodged its engine block from the vehicle.
 
Soon after, paramedics arrived and tended to the 17-year-old boy in the Mazda and took his father, the driver, to a local hospital with major injuries. Meanwhile, officers arrested Freels, of Chico, after noticing signs of intoxication and finding a weapon in his vehicle. Per the investigation, speed played a role on Freels’ part.
