Matthew Hutchmacher Dies in Ramona Crash on Highway 78 near Slaughterhouse Road

 
RAMONA, CA (February 3, 2021) – Authorities identified the man who died in a motorcycle accident Sunday last week in Ramona.
 
The crash happened around 5:00 p.m., January 10 on Highway 78 near Slaughterhouse Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2020 Honda dual sport bike was heading west on Highway 78 when it struck a rock, ejecting the rider off the bike into the roadway.
 
Meanwhile, 51-year-old Matthew Huthmacher of Descano was riding his motorcycle and was coming up behind the first bike. To avoid hitting it, he crossed the double yellow lines. The sudden movement led him to crash into an eastbound 2003 Ford Focus.
 
Huthmacher sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The first rider suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. The driver of the Ford had minor injuries.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the accident to determine the factors involved and liability.
