Hero in 2018 Borderline Bar Shooting Dies in Thousand Oaks Motorcycle Crash

 
THOUSAND OAKS, CA (February 28, 2022) – Matt Wennerstrom died in a motorcycle accident in Thousand Oaks on Saturday night.
 
The accident happened around 6:20 p.m. on February 26 near Lynn Road and East Kelley Road in Thousand Oaks. According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Wennerstrom was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Lynn Road. For unknown reasons, he collided with a crossover SUV.
 
When officers arrived, they found Wennerstrom lying on the ground near the wrecked car. He died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver of the SUV to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
Wennerstrom was 24 years old. He emerged as a hero one November night in 2018, in which 13 people were killed when a gunman entered the Borderline bar and opened fire.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatal crash is underway.
