Marty Sparling Dies, Erika Romero-Aguilar Suspected in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash on Highway 395 at Cactus Road

 
ADELANTO, CA (August 9, 2022) — Marty Sparling died in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Highway 395 at Cactus Road on Saturday.
 
According to a sheriff’s news release, the fatal hit-and-run happened around 10:21 p.m. Under unclear circumstances, a 2008 Lincoln Navigator struck 59-year-old Sparling as he rode his bike across the highway.
 
Instead of attempting to help the Adelanto man, the driver, later identified as Erika Romero-Aguilar, fled the scene.
 
Following the accident, officers found Romero-Aguilar’s SUV abandoned at Pilot Truck Stop on Highway 395 near Joshua Street. However, the police did not find her at the scene.
