Authorities Identify Martin Womack as Pedestrian Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver in Ventura

 
VENTURA, CA (January 9, 2022) – Martin Womack died in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash on Harbor Boulevard in Ventura on Friday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:05 a.m. on January 7, just between Sanjon Road and Vista Del Mar. According to the Ventura Police Department, a 911 caller said someone was down in the roadway.
 
When officers arrived, they found Womack in the eastbound lane of Harbor Boulevard suffering from multiple blunt force injuries. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Womack was 68 years old, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was a homeless man.
 
Meanwhile, the involved driver reportedly fled the scene.
 
As of 5:00 p.m. Friday, investigators were still trying to locate the vehicle, officials said. Anyone with information is asked to call Traffic Investigator Kyle Halverson at 805-477- 3767.
