Suspected Street Racing Leads to Fatal Head-On Accident in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (June 7, 2021) – Police identified Martha Romo as the victim who died in a fatal head-on accident on L Street on June 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of 3rd Avenue shortly after 6:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, a Ford Mustang and a white Subaru WRX were racing at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, one of the cars was driving in the wrong lane. Consequently, it ran a red light and crashed head-on into a third vehicle that was not part of the racing.
 
As a result, the driver of the third vehicle died in the incident. Officials identified her as 57-year-old Martha Bertha Villalobos Romo. Crews took two children who were with Romo in the car to local hospitals with minor to moderate injuries.
