Authorities Identify Martha Martinez Killed in Palm Springs Rollover Crash on Highway 111

PALM SPRINGS, CA (March 18, 2021) – Authorities named the woman who died in a rollover accident Tuesday morning in Palm Springs.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified her as 61-year-old Martha Martinez of Santa Monica.

CHP officials said the accident happened around 6:45 a.m., March 16, on southbound Highway 111, just south of Overture Drive near Angel Canyon Trail.

Martinez was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer southbound when the car drifted onto the right shoulder and went through a cable fence along the road.

The Ford overturned and came to a stop on its wheels in the desert area adjacent to Highway 111. Martinez, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

CHP investigators said drugs or alcohol have not been ruled out as factors in the crash, which did not block traffic Tuesday morning. Gusty winds were present in the area but it was unclear if they played a role in the crash.

Investigators urged witnesses to call (760) 772-5300.

We extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family and friends of Martha Martinez.
