Driver and Three Passengers Sustained Serious Injuries in Santa Barbara DUI Crash, Marlon Mejia Arrested

 
SANTA BARBARA, CA (July 12, 2021) – Police arrested Marlon Anibal Valle Mejia for DUI after a car accident in Santa Barbara Sunday evening, July 4.
 
The accident happened around 9:20 p.m. in the 2300 block of Cliff Drive. According to the Santa Barbara Police Department, the 23-year-old Santa Barbara man was driving a black Ford Mustang with three passengers. He was going at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car.
 
The Mustang then drove down the windy road and crashed into a large tree on the ocean side.
 
Mejia and his three passengers all sustained serious injuries. Paramedics took all four occupants to Cottage Hospital for treatment.
 
As Mejia continues to receive treatment for his injuries, police arrested him for DUI.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
