Mario Hernandez Dead, Miguel Valdez and Jorge Diaz Charged in Street Racing Crash on Heacock Street and Sunnymead Boulevard
MORENO VALLEY, CA (May 11, 2022) — Mario Hernandez died in a street racing accident as he tried to cross Heacock Street and Sunnymead Boulevard.
According to reports, Hernandez died on March 6 following the late afternoon pedestrian accident. For street racing-related reasons, a Jeep Cherokee, driven by 21-year-old Jorge Eduardo Diaz struck Hernandez as he attempted to cross the street.
Prior to the impact, however, Diaz had squared off 24-year-old Miguel Angel Garcia Valdez in his Chevrolet Camaro as the pair reached highway speeds in a four-lane city street.
Following the impact, the pair briefly left before returning separately to speak to detectives gathering evidence at the scene.
At this time, both Valdez and Diaz have pleaded guilty to felony charges in this illegal street race accident. While one faces a two-year suspended prison, the other faces a four-year term.
