Passenger Dies after Car Crashes on 5 Freeway at 32nd Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 21, 2022) – Maribel Acebedo Mendosa was killed in a car accident in San Diego Wednesday evening on December 14.
The accident happened around 10:02 p.m. along the southbound freeway, just north of 32nd Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2019 Toyota sedan was traveling on the freeway when it went down an embankment and struck an overpass bridge pillar.
Mendosa, a 39-year-old Fontana resident, was the front seat passenger of the car. She suffered multiple blunt force injuries and died at UCSD Medical Center.
The condition of the driver was not immediately known.
At this time, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
