28-Year-Old Reedley Woman Dies in Big Rig Crash in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (August 24, 2021)Mariana Godinez died in a big rig accident on Highway 99 in Fresno early Monday morning.
 
The accident happened around 1:50 a.m. on August 23, just south of Jensen Avenue. CHP officials said Godinez was driving a 2018 Honda Civic in the far-right lane and approaching the big rig, which was traveling at 55 mph. She failed to slow down and rear-ended the big rig. Her car then ended up underneath the truck.
 
Godinez suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a 28-year-old Reedley resident, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
 
It is unknown if alcohol, drugs or fatigue factored in the crash. The fatality remains under investigation.
