Maria Solano Dies after Hit Twice on 710 Freeway in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (December 1, 2021) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on 710 Freeway in Long Beach early Monday, November 29.

43-year-old Maria Solano of Long Beach died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The fatal crash happened around 3:00 a.m. near the 405 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, Solano had been involved in a collision that left her car disabled on the freeway. After that collision, she got out of her car and ran westbound across traffic lanes where an unknown vehicle struck her.

The driver of that vehicle fled the scene before authorities arrived. However, while Solano was lying in the roadway, a second driver in a Kenworth semi-tractor also hit the woman. That driver stayed on scene.

Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced Solano dead at the scene.

At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large. An investigation is still ongoing.
