Maria Hinojosa Hits, Kills Bicyclist on Henry Miller Avenue in Merced County
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 28, 2022) — Maria Hinojosa was involved in a fatal bicycle accident on Henry Miller Avenue at Johnson Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal bicycle crash happened around 7:19 p.m. on Wednesday. 42-year-old Hinojosa of Los Banos struck a 19-year-old bicyclist pedaling westbound on Henry Miller Avenue as she was driving westbound at 55 miles per hour.
Her 2009 Nissan Maxima struck the rear of the bicycle, causing the 19-year-old to strike the windshield and roof of the vehicle.
Responding paramedics found the cyclist at the scene with fatal injuries. Authorities have withheld her name at this time.
Neither Hinojosa nor her 46-year-old male passenger reported any injuries in the crash. In addition, CHP officers did not suspect alcohol to have played a role in the accident.
