Speeding Vehicle Crashes into Another Car in Oroville Killing Maria Barajas-Medina, Joseph Hendrix Arrested for DUI

 
OROVILLE, CA (February 20, 2022) – 52-year-old Maria Barajas-Medina died in a DUI accident in Oroville Wednesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just before 1:00 p.m. on February 16, near Oro Dam Boulevard West and 10th Street. According to the Oroville Police Department, 57-year-old Joseph Hendrix was speeding when he slammed into another car, driven by Barajas-Medina.
 
As a result, Barajas-Medina suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the Butte County Coroner Office.
 
Police said Hendrix was driving under the influence of a drug. He was arrested for several charges including vehicular manslaughter. He and his passenger suffered moderate injuries.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
