Marcos Calderon Arrested in Fatal Car Racing Accident on 91 Freeway [Riverside, CA]

Marcos Calderon Detained in Deadly Car Racing Crash on 91 Freeway near Buchanan Street

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (April 12, 2021) — Marcos Calderon was arrested in a fatal car racing accident on the 91 Freeway near Buchanan Street Tuesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Calderon and a 19-year-old man had engaged in a street race on the 91 East Freeway. As Calderon challenged the driver in his Nissan Altima — both of whom were traveling well over 100 mph — they came upon slower traffic ahead.
 
As a result, Calderon lost control of his Nissan and traveled off the freeway in a southerly direction. While Calderon came to a stop in a nearby parking lot, the other driver’s BMW 550 sedan struck a tree and caught on fire. As a result, the 19-year-old man died at the scene. His name has been withheld due to pending notification of next of kin.
 
At this time, Calderon, of Riverside, remains incarcerated at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. However, if anyone has more to add to this crash, please contact the CHP.
