Man, Woman Dead, Car Crashes Into Big Rig on Highway 395 in Bishop

 
BISHOP, CA (July 21, 2022) — A man and a woman died after a car crashed into a semi-truck on Highway 395 near Haiwee Canyon Road.
 
According to a collision report released by the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 1:04 a.m. Saturday.
 
For unknown reasons, a 23-year-old man from La Mesa, driving a 2020 Hyundai northbound on the highway, failed to stop behind a slower-moving 2006 Freightliner. As a result, the northbound Hyundai traveling about 65 miles per hour crashed into the Freightliner, also heading north but at a much slower speed.
 
Shortly after, paramedics reached the scene and confirmed the driver of the Hyundai and his 22-year-old female passenger from Ashland, Ohio, dead on arrival. As for the 45-year-old man from Lakewood, Ohio, driving the Freightliner, he reported no injuries.
 
At this time, investigators have not confirmed the factors that played a role in this accident. However, please call the Bishop area CHP if anyone has more information.
