Two-Vehicle Accident on Stockdale Highway in Bakersfield Seriously Injures Passenger

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 12, 2021) – A man sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Stockdale Highway in Southwest Bakersfield.
 
Bakersfield police said the accident happened just before 10:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the intersection of Stockdale Highway and Buena Vista Road near the Park at River Walk.
 
Officers responded to the scene and found a male passenger in one of the vehicles suffering from severe injuries. Paramedics transported the patient to a hospital in critical condition.
 
According to a preliminary investigation, the man was the passenger in a vehicle that ran a red light heading southbound on Buena Vista Road. The vehicle he was in then collided into another car at the intersection.
 
Neither alcohol, drugs or speed appear to be factors in the crash, according to police.
 
At this time, the collision is under investigation.
 
When approaching a stop sign or a red light, make sure to slow down and come to a complete stop just before the sign. Scan for any oncoming vehicles, and keep an eye out for possible road hazards. Also, practice defensive driving when entering intersections.
