Big Rig Hits and Badly Injures Pedestrian Standing near Disabled Car on 8 Freeway in Alpine
ALPINE, CA (February 21, 2023) – A man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on 8 Freeway in Alpine early Friday morning on February 17.
Around 12:45 a.m., the 26-year-old Lakeside man was standing next to a disabled 2002 Cadillac Eldorado on the right shoulder of the freeway just west of Tavern Road.
Meanwhile, a tractor-trailer hauling a water tanker traveled to the right and off the roadway. It then struck the victim and the Cadillac.
Responding paramedics rushed the victim to a San Diego hospital with major injuries.
A 20-year-old Alpine man who had been standing outside of the disabled Cadillac and a 19-year-old San Diego woman seated inside it did not sustain any injuries.
The circumstances of this crash remain under investigation.
