Man on Scooter Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 30th Street in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 12, 2021) – Police confirmed that a man suffered injuries in a hit-and-run on 30th Street on October 9.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of Thorn Street.
 
Based on an initial report, a male and a female were crossing the intersection on electric scooters prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a large white pick-up truck struck the male rider. Then, the truck went down the street and stopped. Subsequently, the driver then left the scene.
 
As a result, the scooter rider suffered major injuries, including a compound fracture to an ankle and a broken shoulder. Paramedics transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment.
 
After the incident, a truck matching the description came out of an alley onto Lincoln Avenue and hit an older woman in her Toyota Prius. The woman also suffered unknown injuries. The male driver of the truck along with his female passenger stayed at the scene and police detained them for questioning related to the hit-and-run on 30th Street.
 
At this point, an investigation is ongoing.
