Driver Dead in Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 145 near Avenue 6 in Madera County

 
MADERA COUNTY, CA (August 9, 2021) – A man was killed and a woman sustained serious injuries in a semi-truck accident on Highway 145, Thursday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on August 5, at about 8:37 p.m. For unknown reasons, an eastbound Nissan minivan ran a stop sign. Then, the vehicle broadsided a southbound semi-truck near Avenue 6.
 
The impact of the collision caused the van to catch fire.
 
Emergency responders extricated the passenger from the burning van. An air ambulance transported the 42-year-old victim to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
 
As per reports, the driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the 58-year-old semi-truck driver had a complaint of shoulder pain.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
