Early Morning Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 24 in Orinda Kills 1 Driver

 
ORINDA, CA (December 13, 2021) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 24 in Orinda, early Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 1:33 a.m. on December 11 near the Saint Stephens Drive on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Toyota Avalon eastbound on the highway when he lost control and collided into a Dodge Challenger. The impact sent the Avalon down the 80 feet embankment.
 
First responders found the male driver of the Avalon with fatal injuries and pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Authorities withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
No one else was hurt in the crash.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The CHP urged witnesses to contact them at 925-646-4980.
