Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 120 east of Sonora Kills 1 and Seriously Injures Another

 
SONORA, CA (January 11, 2022) – A man was killed in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 120 east of Sonora, late Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened on January 8, according to the California Highway Patrol. The 36-year-old Modesto man was driving a sedan westbound on Highway 120 at a high rate of speed when he drove up behind an SUV. He then crossed the double yellow lines and tried to pass the SUV.
 
However, the sedan driver was then struck by a pickup truck heading the other way.
 
As a result, the driver of the sedan suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The pickup truck driver had serious injuries.
 
At this time, investigators are still looking into whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
