Two-Car Accident on San Leandro Street in East Oakland Kills 1 and Injures 2

 
OAKLAND, CA (June 16, 2021) – A man died in a two-car accident on San Leandro Street in East Oakland.
 
The accident happened around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 13. According to the Oakland Police Department, the man was driving a Cadillac DTS eastbound in the 10100 block of San Leandro Street. He was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with a Toyota Camry that was heading westbound on San Leandro. Debris from the collision hit an Acura MDX SUV that was also going westbound.
 
After the two vehicles collided, the Cadillac struck a cement BART track pillar on the north side of the street, causing the driver to be ejected.
 
Arriving units rushed the Cadillac driver to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities only identified him as a 45-year-old Oakland resident.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old San Leandro woman, and her passenger, a 21-year old Oakland man, sustained injuries but were in stable condition.
 
No one in the Acura was hurt.
