Man Killed, Trinidad Magada Seriously Injured in Head-On Accident on Santa Fe Avenue [Denair, CA]

Fatal Head-On Crash at Santa Fe and East Monte Vista Avenues

 
DENAIR, CA (September 20, 2021) – A man died and Trinidad Magada suffered serious injuries in a head-on accident Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened around 6:31 a.m. on September 16, at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and East Monte Vista Avenue. CHP officials said Magada, a 62-year-old Hughson resident, was driving a 2003 Toyota sedan. At the same time, the 63-year-old Modesto man was driving a 1998 Subaru SUV northbound on Santa Fe Avenue.
 
The driver of the Subaru attempted to pass a vehicle in front him, when he drifted into the path of the Toyota. The two vehicles collided head-on. The impact pushed the Toyota backwards and crashed into a 2002 Nissan, driven by 48-year-old Ricardo Gallegos of Modesto.
 
As a result of the crash, the driver of the Subaru died at the hospital. Magada suffered major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Gallegos was unharmed.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a factor. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
