69-Year-Old Riverside Man Dead in Tractor-Trailer Accident on 40 Freeway near Crucero Road

 
BARSTOW, CA (February 4, 2021) – A 69-year-old Riverside man died in a tractor-trailer accident on 40 Freeway, Friday January 22.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 1:00 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a Chevy was traveling at a high rate of speed. Then, the Chevy slammed into the rear of a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer towing a tanker trailer.
 
The impact of the crash caused the Chevy to overturn, ejecting the driver near Crucero Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the Chevy driver dead at the scene. Authorities did not release his name, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old tractor-trailer driver remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal accident. Anyone with information can call the CHP Barstow Office at (760) 255-5900.
