Man Exits Vehicle, Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Motorist on Highway 76 in Oceanside

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (June 20, 2022) – A man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash on Highway 76 in Oceanside early Saturday morning on June 18.
 
The fatal crash happened a little before 1:30 a.m. just west of Douglas Drive. According to the Oceanside Police Department, the man appeared to have left his car in the westbound lane of the highway.
 
The next time the man was seen he was lying in the road, according to witness statements.
 
A driver noticed the man lying in the middle of the road and attempted to avoid him but ultimately hit the unidentified man. The driver then pulled over and called 911.
 
Police arrived soon after and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
Alcohol or speed are believed to have factored in this crash. Further investigation is underway.
